More Than 200 More Cambodians Repatriated by Thai Troops

BATTAMBANG: More than 200 Cambodian migrant workers were arrested by Thai soldiers and returned to Cambodian authorities through O'Anlok checkpoint in Kamrieng district of Battambang province on Sunday.

On 23 January 2022, Thai military forces sent a total of 225 Cambodian workers back to Cambodia through O'Anlok checkpoint in Kamrieng district, Battambang province.

The deported individuals include 80 women, 41 children, officers as well as specialized police officers who had been instructed on measures to prevent the spread of Covid-19.

All of the workers were tested negative for Covid-19. Around 180 workers had Covid-19 vaccination cards and were allowed to return home, but the remaining 45 were sent to quarantine center at Kilo 9 in Sampov Loun district.

Thai forces say they will continue to follow the principles of security along the Cambodian-Thai border to monitor people crossing over, and search for illegal labor brokers along the area.
